Dental Implants

Once it is confirmed that you are a candidate for implants, and have accepted Dr. Pippin’s treatment plan, one or more titanium implants are prepared and placed. During the healing process, your jaw bone fuses with the titanium post(s). This process is known as osseointegration. Temporary crowns are typically placed during this period. Once healing is complete, you return to Pippin Dental Care to have an abutment placed on the implant. This acts as a base to hold your new replacement tooth or teeth in place.

FAQs

What makes dental implants different from dentures?
Dentures are removable replacement teeth while dental implants remain in your mouth permanently and act as natural teeth.

Why should I choose dental implants?
Dental implants allow you to eat and speak normally without the worry of your replacement teeth falling out. The procedure has a high success rate.

What is the cost of teeth implants?
This varies depending on the number of implants you need and other individual factors. We will provide you with an estimate and financing options when you have your consultation at Pippin Dental Care.

How do you keep me comfortable?
We use local anesthesia and can offer sedation options if you feel anxious. You will not feel any discomfort during the procedure.

Will I need to replace my tooth implants?
With proper care, your implants can last a lifetime. Daily brushing and flossing, as well as regular preventive dental services are all that is required.

Post-Surgical Instructions

Plan to rest for two to three days following your implant procedure. This helps minimize discomfort and promote healing. Drink plenty of fluids (avoiding very hot or cold drinks). An ice pack applied to your face can help reduce any swelling. Avoid chewing directly on the implant site and, if you received upper implants, avoid blowing your nose for up to two weeks. Minor discomfort and bleeding should not persist past three days. If it does, please contact our Sevierville, Tennessee dental team for assistance.
