Dental Implants
Dental implants are artificial tooth root forms made from titanium, a biocompatible metal. Depending upon the number of missing teeth, single or multiple implants can be placed to secure a single replacement tooth crown, a multiple tooth bridge, or a full denture.
Implants
Dr. Pippin has had advanced training in implant surgery at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He is capable of performing both the implant placement surgery and the replacement tooth or teeth restoration in the office without referral to a specialist in most cases. State-of-the-art in-office 3D imaging allows for safe and precise implant placement, which results in more predictable outcomes.
Implants can be placed under local anesthesia like any general dental procedure. If so desired, various forms of sedation are available for your comfort. Post-operative discomfort and swelling is generally less than that experienced with extractions. Depending upon how many implants are placed in one appointment, most patients can return to work the next day, although strenuous physical exertion is not advised for a few days.
